Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo 2023
The International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) appointed Suncheon for a second time as a host for the International Garden Expo for 2023. The first ever exhibition of this kind in Korea was held in 2013 in Suncheon Bay and was a huge success which attracted over 4,4 million visitors.
Suncheon has established itself as the center of garden culture in Korea and with the Suncheonman International Garden Expo 2023 the city plans to promote this status to a new level.
The 2023 Suncheon International Garden Expo
The 2023 Suncheon International Garden Expo will be held for a period of seven months from April 1, 2023 until October 31, 2023 under the theme “Life Inside Gardens”. Building on the successful story of the International Suncheon Bay Garden Expo 2013, the 2023 International Garden Expo will celebrate the 10th anniversary of this success and aims to attract as many as 8 million visitors over the period of seven months.
The 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo wants to make gardening a part of the city’s future development. Citizens are being an active part of the preparations for the Expo and shall be an important part of a balanced, eco-friendly regional development. The goal is to create ecological gardens, using the characteristics of nature.
During the Expo, the activities will be focused on the wellness of body and mind. Visitors will get the chance to experience an “overnight garden stay” and they can enjoy the sunset from grassy hills when they go to the “Sunset Garden”. Good news for pet owners: You are allowed to take your four-legged friends with you. There will also be a service that can take care of your pets if you want to explore parts of the Expo, where you can not take your pets with you.
In order for everyone to participate the 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo will host an exhibition and presentation contest.

The International Suncheon Bay Garden Expo 2013
The 2013 Expo was the first of its kind in Korea and was a big success. It is the starting point of a new garden culture of Korea which lasts until this day. As Suncheon Bay is already one of Korea’s natural treasures with its wide wetlands, it was only natural to make it the garden capital of Korea. The expo venue which was built for the 2013 Expo is still in use until this day as a national garden with events and festivals all year round. The national garden at Suncheon Bay attracts up to 5 million visitors each year from all around the world.
